Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook softball team dropped two games at home on Thursday afternoon, falling to St. Peter's 7-5 in game one and 11-2 in the nightcap.

In game one, St. Peter's (24-16) opened the scoring on Karen Kolmos' home run to help them go up 2-0 at the top of the third. But the Seawolves (3-26) battled back as Christie McMurray singled home Sue Westing and Tricia Lipareli's double scored McMurray. Tory Menchise then drove home Lipareli for the 3-2 USB lead. But St. Peter's put the game away in the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits. The Seawolves managed two more runs, but the final score of 7-5 would be as close as they would get. Lipareli and Westing led Stony Brook from the plate as both went 2-for-3. Lipareli also registered one RBI and two runs scored. Corrine Vish went 2-for-4. Pitcher Stephanie Poetzsch went the distance, giving up seven runs on 11 hits with nine strikeouts.

In game two, the Peahens exploded for 14 hits and 11 runs en route to the 11-2 victory. St. Peter's recorded two home runs in the sixth and one in the seventh as USB managed only four hits in the game. Westing again led the Seawolves at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a run scored. Kate Deck was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Pitcher Cassie Rupp picked up the loss on the mound.

Stony Brook returns to action on Saturday as they host Central Connecticut at 11 a.m. at University Field.
