Box Score

New York, N.Y. - The Stony Brook softball team (21-21) dropped its final doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon, falling to Columbia 3-1 and 1-0.

The Seawolves struggled offensively, collecting only five hits on the day. In game one, Stony Brook scored its only run in the fifth inning, when Jen Milito's base hit drove in Sam Foronjy. But that proved to be the only Stony Brook run as the Lions went on to win 3-1. Foronjy was 2-for-3, while Milito went 1-for-3 with the RBI.

Stephanie Poetzsch (14-10) picked up the loss, giving up five hits and striking out seven.

Stony Brook managed just one hit in game two, a double by Amanda Staschuk in the fourth. But the Seawolves came up empty, and Columbia's Danielle Capece drove in the game-winning run with a base hit in the fifth.

Lindsey DeLaRosa (7-11) was credited with the loss on the mound, yielding just three hits while striking out three.

Despite the losses, Stony Brook concludes its season with a 21-21 record, the Seawolves' best finish since 1991.
