Boston, Mass. - The Stony Brook University women's swimming and diving team is in sixth place with 54 points after Day 1 of the America East Championships at Boston University's Aquatic Center.

Stony Brook placed sixth and earned 26 points in the 800-yard freestyle when the team of Courtney Teague, Lucy Liu, Kym Sgrignoli and Rebecca Sayles finished with a time of 7:56.89. Stony Brook finished four seconds out of first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.84 when the relay team of Liu, Brittany Whipple, Anjelica D'Esposito and Teague finished fifth.

On the day, the Seawolves recorded 54 points.

Day 2 of the America East Championships continues tommorrow with preliminary heats in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, and 50-yard freestyle.
