Women's Swimming Falls to Fordham 141-95, Men's Swimming falls to Fordham 140-103.

Bronx, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's swimming and diving team lost to Fordham Wednesday night 140-103, despite three 1st place finishes by Lukasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland). Ochmanski started the night off strong winning his first event, the 1000 yard freestyle, by more than six seconds. He later led the Seawolves to 1st place points in the 200 yard IM and the 500 yard freestyle. Alexander Kissel (Amityville, N.Y.) and Rafael Labour, Jr. (New York City, N.Y.) also posted 1st place finishes for the men in the 50 yard freestyle and 200 yard backstroke The women's team, which also fell to Fordham, 141-95, received a strong effort from Maja Gudelj (Split Croatia). Gudelj lead the women's team with a 1st place finish in the 50 yard freestyle (25.26) and finished second in the 100 yard freestyle. Anastasia Kiryushkina (Moscow, Russia) also gained 1st place points for the Seawolves in the 200 yard breaststroke. The Seawolves also fared well in the 3 meter dive with Talia Schizzano (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) finishing 2nd for the women and Julian Acevado (Long Island City, N.Y.) finishing 2nd for the men. Both the men and women finished the night strong, winning the final two events. For the men it was Kissel, Labour, Jr., Eric Gaffey (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Yoni Eldor (Givat Elah, Israel) who took home 1st place in the men's 400 yard freestyle relay.
And on the women's side it was Gudelj, Nyisha Green-Washington (Highland Mills, N.Y.), Brittany Whipple (Kildeer, Ill.) and Courtney Teague (Colorado Springs, Colo.) touching first in the women's 400 yard freestyle relay. Both the men and women's teams will be back in action Saturday when they take on Maine at home. The first event is schedule for 11:00 am. |
