Swimming and Diving Competes During Day Three of America East Championships

Orono, Maine - Stony Brook's men's and women's swimming teams had five top-ten finishes today during Day Three of the America East Championships in Orono, Maine. The Seawolves top finish came in the men's 200-yard freestyle, courtesy of freshman Lucasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland).

Ochmanski placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time 1:40.44. Fellow freshman Eric Gaffey (Bohemia, N.Y.) also swam well in the 200, finishing 10th overall (1:44.38).

The Seawolves' other top-ten individual finisher was senior Alexei Smirnov (Central Valley, N.Y.) who touched ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (52.40). Junior Michael MacDonald (Monroe Township, N.J.) (52.49) and freshman Timothy Dosch (Colonia, N.J.) (56.99) placed 12th and 16th respectively in the 100-yard butterfly.

Stony Brook's men's team also placed their 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Ray Sato (Eastchester, N.Y.) MacDonald, Smirnov and Gaffey in the top-ten with a fourth place finish (3:30.47).

The women's 400-yard medley relay team also had a top-ten finish with junior Lucy Liu (Bronx, N.Y.), freshman Anastasia Kiryushkina (Moscow, Russia), sophomore Anjelica D'Esposito (Holtsville, N.Y.) and senior Courtney Teague (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placing seventh overall (4:03.46).

The women's team remains in seventh place and the men's team held onto their fourth place standing.
 

 

The America East Championships wraps-up tomorrow at the University of Maine.
