Swimming & Diving Impressive In Sweep Over Maine

Stony Brook's swimming & diving teams picked up their first wins of the season, as the men's team defeated Maine, 151-101, and the women's team topped the Black Bears, 164-131. Freshman Ivan Kopas (Kikinda, Serbia) picked up two wins, including a University Pool record in the 100-yard backstroke. Junior Lukasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland) also won two events for the Seawolves. On the women's side, freshmen Julie Policht (Toronto, Ontario) and Renee Rosenkranz (Dover Plains, N.Y.) each won two events on Saturday. [+]

Swimming and Diving Competes At Massachusetts On Saturday

Stony Brook University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon. The men's team fell, 193-101, and the women's team lost, 180-115. Junior Lukasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland) and freshman Ivan Kopas (Kikinda, Serbia) led the men's team with two individual victories. Freshman Julie Policht (Toronto, Ontario) and sophomores Deirdre Leong (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and Mallory Breen (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) led the women's team with individual wins. Sophomore Darcy Heuser (Centerville, Ohio) ended the afternoon with three top-three finishes. [+]

Murphy, Furrer Lead Women's Diving Past Fairfield

Sophomore Shanna Murphy (Chester, N.Y.) won the 1-meter dive and junior Megan Furrer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was tops in the 3-meter dive in a diving only meet at Fairfield on Saturday morning. Murphy scored a 178.80 in 1-meter and Furrer recorded a 163.28 in the 3-meter. Murphy edged Furrer in the 1-meter and Furrer bested Murphy in the 3-meter. [+]
